Obituary

The late Reverend Charles Alexander Knight was the twin of Carlyle and the son of the late Julius and Missouri Jenkins Knight. He was born on October 8, 1942 in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina. He grew up in the Dunbar Community in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, where he attended school and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He moved to Syracuse, New York and joined the military (United States Air Force). He retired from the USAF at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, Florida in August 1986. After retiring, he found his second love in preaching. Under the mentorship of his pastor Reverend Dr. Robert S. Gray, he was ordained as a deacon and then elevated to Reverend. He is preceded in death by his son, Maurice Hughes; son-in-law, Matthew Lovell; siblings seven sisters and eight brothers. He Leaves to mourn his memories; his wife, Lurena Knight of Crestview, Florida; two sons, Anthony (Audrey) Hughes of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Alex (Janet) Knight of Winter Haven, Florida; two daughters, Dionne (Tomonori) Ebisawa and Michele Lovell both of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Kamari Branch, Kai Hughes, Mary Jendrycki, Hannah Knight, Kali Knight, Elizabeth Ebisawa, Alexander Ebisawa and Abigail Lovell; two sisters, Lena Patterson of Syracuse, New York and Bertha Meek of Hackensack, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Delphine (Clem) Flenaugh and Starretha Bean both of Crestview, Florida; three brothers-in-law, Reverend Clarence Coleman of Kentucky, Reverend Johnny M. Hendrix of Allenhurst, Georgia and Jessie (Sylvia) Hendrix of Crestview, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
