Obituary

Rev. Genesis Shy age 81 of Crestview, Florida passed away Saturday October 03, 2020 at the Shoal Creek Rehabilitation Center. Genesis was born May 6, 1939 in Troy, Alabama to the late Knox and Vergie Mae Shy. On October 14, 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to the late Mary France Shy. They moved to New York and resided there for over three years. From there they moved to East Cleveland, Ohio where Genesis was employed for over 26 years by Mid-West Forge Corporation, a steel manufacturing company that make automobile axles. He joined the Omega Baptist Church in Cleveland and was dedicated. On January 30, 2005 Genesis received his calling and became a Gospel Preacher, where he served for many years. After leaving East Cleveland he and his wife moved to Crestview, Florida to be closer to their son and family. Reverend & Sister Shy both joined Macedonia MBC and continued their service to the Lord. After a courageous battle with Dementia and other illnesses God called his solider Reverend Genesis Shy home to his final resting place. In addition to his parents and wife, Genesis was preceded in death by sisters Pearl Jones, Bobbie Shy, Annie Terry, and one brother; Henry Smith whom he loved dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His son - Eddie B. Shy and daughter in-law Sharon F. Shy of Crestview, Florida; two grandchildren - Kenya and Jazmin Shy both of Crestview, Florida; Three grandsons - Keelan, Kameron and Kason Shy. Sisters - Annie Vera Smith of St. Paul Minnesota; Vergie (Chester) Davis of Quincy, Florida; Mary Johns of Stockbridge, Georgia; Mary (John) Copeland, Virginia (James) Glover, Mildred Shy of Brundidge Alabama; Catherine Shy of Dallas, Georgia; Geraldine Franklin of White Plains, New York; and Teresa Nanina Shy of Cleveland, Ohio; Brothers - Rev. Henry Shy of Killeen, Texas; and David Shy of Stockbridge, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
